My WRITING
Thirteen Fallen Horses, a historical fiction novel, tells the story of Charles Russell Lowell, a Union Army Colonel, following Charles through years of war and battles. It explores the psychological and emotional toll of war on a young man burdened by family expectations and trauma.
In 1861, Charlie, weakened by poor health and his father's failures, takes an officer’s commission seeking purpose. War shatters his ideals—his brother’s death fuels guilt, and the horrors of Antietam shake his resolve.
Back in Massachusetts, Charlie leads a regiment, finds love, but faces war’s harsh realities as he continues to fight for the Union. Torn between duty to his wife and country, his story is one of sacrifice and leadership’s heavy cost.
Fans of historical fiction like The Narrow Road to the Deep North will appreciate this poignant portrayal of war’s lasting scars and resilience.
I have written articles, short stories and now a novel -which should hopefully be released in 2026.
